Dr.Tread uses a proprietary, tire-specific AI model trained on
a large-scale dataset of real-world tire images and precise
tread measurements.
The model analyzes tread geometry, groove patterns, and visual
depth cues to estimate remaining tread depth accurately from a
single image - without requiring any physical measuring tools.
For best accuracy, the tire tread should be captured
straight-on, with the camera facing the tread surface as
directly as possible.
Wide-angle shots or images taken from extreme angles can
reduce accuracy. Ensuring the tread area fills most of the
frame significantly improves prediction performance.
Dr.Tread has been validated through strict internal
evaluations across the full tread depth range.
In these tests, it achieved an average Mean Absolute Error
(MAE) of approximately 0.3 mm, which is comparable to - and in
many use cases more consistent than - manual measurements.
